Introducing Evidence for Hope!

Why read the book?

My book Evidence for Hope may be useful:

If you believe that we need no other foundation for evidence beyond the rigorous results of experimental studies, like randomised control trials…

If you think worldviews should not be challenged on what they accept as evidence…

If you think colonisation was just an expression of the moral and technical superiority of the Global West and of corruption and decadence in the Global South…

If you think that causality is linear and can be represented by A causing B, and should be proven by statisticians…

If you think that systems are just an illusion created by matter and energy interacting according to quantum physics…

If you think that sustainability will be solved later, when we have used up all fossil fuels on Earth…

If you think that international trade is always advantageous for all partners…

Then perhaps this book may shatter your illusions…

But who am I kidding? If you believe all these statements, you will probably recoil away from my book and refuse to read it. Let us turn them around. If you believe we need a broader definition of evidence, that includes challenging worldviews to look beyond what they consider to be evidence, that colonisation and international trade are expressions of a fundamental disconnect between home and far away, that causality is always composed of many elements and complex, that systems are complex as well and interact with other systems, leading to many unexpected shifts in matter and energy, then maybe this book will provide you further support on this vision of reality, against the opposition of materialistic neoliberals and populist movements.

And are you ready to consider that humanity could become richer rather than poorer if we were to transit to renewable energies and were to adopt sustainable options for our needs for healthy food, clean water and air, and a supportive economy, society and environment? The move towards sustainability could become revolutionary: we need to work towards the emerging sustainability revolution. In my career I have seen what can be done, and if more people do it, it will carry the future…
